Sunny Day has an "open-door" policy.  Parents are welcome to come and visit at any time.

Policies

POLICIES

The Board of Directors, along with the Director, establish the policies, hours, and fees for the center.  All policies are subject to the rules for licensing by the State Department of Children and Families.  The rules must be adhered to in order to provide this child care service to our community.

Complete copies of the policies are available to look over upon request.  Below is a summary of commonly referenced policies

Scheduling & Cancellation

Sunny Day prides itself in offering "flexible scheduling", allowing families to schedule the amount of care needed for their child(ren) on a week-by-week basis.  Parents are responsible for getting desired days and hours of care to the Director by noon every Thursday for the following week's care. If you do not sign up/schedule for the upcoming week, Sunny Day cannot guarantee there will be care available for your child(ren).

Each child will be granted 5 “free” cancellation days per year (These renew in January) for any reason.  There will be no charge for these cancellations.  After the three days have been used, you will be charged for the days you sign up/schedule for, regardless if your child(ren) attend that day.  If you do need to cancel on a particular day, please do so by 8:15 am.

Dropping Off, Picking Up

Parents are responsible for bringing their children to their classroom and for taking the child home, unless the Director or Teacher has been notified of different arrangements.  Proper identification will be needed if the staff is not familiar with someone new picking up a child.  All children must be signed into the computer at the front desk upon arrival, and signed out upon departure.  This gives an accurate count for billing purposes.

Meals

Children coming before 8am may bring their own breakfast to eat.  Breakfast (around 9AM), lunch, and an afternoon snack are provided each day.

Admission Policy

Enrollment is open all year to children 6 weeks to 12 years of age.  Children who are enrolling must have a medical health exam and fill out an immunization form, as required by the Wisconsin Department of Health.

Absences due to lay-off, major illness, new baby, etc. need to be discussed with the Director of the center.  This is due to high enrollment, financial responsibilities, and a waiting list of children.

Outdoor Play

Activities for the children also include outdoor play. Please have your child dressed appropriately so they may participate in all activities offered.  All children are expected to go outside during outdoor play time.  If you feel your child is too sick to go outside, they are probably too sick to come to Sunny Day – we do not have extra staff to care for an individual child to stay inside.

Visits and Tours

The center has an open-door policy. This enables parents and visitors to come to the center at any time during operating hours and observe our program.  A tour of the facility is available by making an appointment with the Director or Assistant Director.

Toys from Home

Toys may be brought with the discretion of the staff. Sunny Day is not responsible for lost or broken toys. Please refrain from brining toy guns or toy weapons of any kind.  We promote nonviolent play.

Medication

Medication will be given to a child only after parents complete and sign an authorization form. Medication must be brought in its original container.  Tylenol cannot be given to control a fever. If your child has a fever over 101 degrees, is vomiting, or has diarrhea, they need to stay home.  We appreciate your cooperation.  Please inform the center of any contagious illness your child develops.  This must be posted to let other parents know what symptoms to look for (your child’s name will not be posted).

Rest Time

Any child attending the center for more than 4 hours must lie down for a short rest.  Each child must have a sleeping bag, a sheet or blanket to lie with, and a pillowcase or larger bag that is labeled with their name to place their belongings in.  They are also welcome to bring a pillow and/or stuffed animal.
